SUSSEX, NB, Aug. 31, 2026 /CNW/ -- Atlantic Potash Millstream Corporation (APMC) has completed all site preparation required to begin its 2026 core drilling program at its Millstream Potash Project, located near Sussex in Kings County, New Brunswick. The program is the next essential step forward in advancing the deposit toward a pre-feasibility study.

Site preparation is now complete. The drill pad was situated on a 60-degree slope, a challenge resolved through the terracing of the site to create a stable working area capable of accommodating the drill rig, 1,100 metres of pipe, ancillary equipment, and a site office. A 2-kilometre access road was upgraded and constructed through the forest from the public highway to the site.

"We have invested more than $17 million to get Millstream to this point. Rock mechanics data from this program will determine how we design the mine – water management, extraction sequencing, surface protection. This is the work that turns a resource into a mine," said Keith Attoe, CEO and Director of APMC.

APMC has signed a drill contract with Logan Drilling for two holes, each to a depth of approximately 1,100 metres. Both holes will use large-diameter core – known as PQ core – which is required for the study of rock mechanics. Core samples will be analysed by Ercosplan, whose extensive experience in mining salt bed geology similar to that found in New Brunswick is central to designing a mine that manages water ingress effectively.

In preparation for the main drill program, APMC has engaged a local company to install a 10-inch surface casing. The casing runs from surface through the overburden to bedrock, providing the coring rig with a stable and secure starting position.

About the Millstream Potash Project

The Millstream Potash Project holds a measured resource of 52.1 million tonnes of KCl, underpinned by an NI 43-101 Resource Estimation Report. The deposit is projected to support a 25-year mine life producing two million tonnes per year at an average KCl grade of 32.6%. Located 70 kilometres from the Port of Saint John — which handles more than two million tonnes of potash annually and offers direct sea routes to key markets in Brazil and beyond — the project benefits from existing rail infrastructure, available port capacity, and access to competitively priced natural gas. The deposit sits in a region with a proven history of commercial potash production, providing a well-understood geological setting for development.
