Based on the courier estimates listed on its product pages, the shop recommends ordering by Thursday, December 17 for British Columbia, Wednesday, December 16 for Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and Friday, December 11 for Ontario and eastern Canada. Using the slowest shipping window outlined in its shipping policy, Tuesday, December 8 serves as the comfortable nationwide cutoff.
The shop notes that these dates are based on arithmetic calculations rather than a delivery guarantee. Its recommendation is to order by the end of November where possible, and to contact the shop before placing any order after December 8 to confirm whether arrival before the holiday is realistic. Orders over $100 ship free within Canada.
"Buying water gear in December is a strange thing to do in Canada," said Jaeger Johnson, who runs Canadian Board Co with his wife, Tarryn Johnson. "The lake is freezing over and the dock is in the shed. That's exactly why it works. They get something to look forward to all winter, and it doesn't end up in a drawer."
Gift ideas by budget
The guide opens with stocking stuffers aimed at solving small, familiar problems: clamp-on cup holders for the boater who keeps knocking drinks over, a waterproof phone case, a three-step rope ladder for climbing back into an inflatable boat or onto a dock, an adjustable rod holder and a dog life vest with a grab handle on top.
